Cincinnati Runners 13th at Great Lakes Regional
The University of Cincinnati cross country teams completed their seasons Sunday at the Great Lakes Regional. The men placed 13th, while the women’s team did not score.
Andy Wietmarschen again led the Bearcats, finishing 59th in a time of 31:59. Eric Bair was next in 78th (32:37) and Mike Smith finished third for Cincinnati in 95th (32:50). Eric Mayhaus finished in 119th in 33:11 with Taylor Garvin (121; 33:12) and David Adams (123; 33:13) on his heals. Brad Neumann was the final finisher for the Bearcats in 181st in 33:18. There were 217 finishers in the men’s race.
The injuries finally caught up to the women. With top runner Ruth Limo out with an injury, the Bearcats did not have five runners finish the race. The rules state that to be scored, the team must have five runners, and thus UC was unable to record a team score. The four Bearcats that did finish had a good showing, with Karen Berling placing 94th out of 214 in a time of 23:01. Jennifer Limle was 111th in 23:13 with Abi Hamrick in 143rd (23:43) and Cristy Doll in 145th in a time of 23:45.
