East Carolina got back on track by winning all three games at its ECU Invitational over the weekend. The Pirates posted wins over NCAA regulars Washington and St. John's before handing 9-0 Duke its first loss of the season on Sunday. ECU saw its hitting produce its best showings of the season, including a season-high 11 runs on Sunday against Duke.

Memphis captured the title at the annual Service Academies Classic in Millington, Tenn. The Tigers opened with a win over BYU, downed Akron and beat 2006 NCAA participant Missouri, 5-1 on Sunday. Memphis, the final C-USA team to open play, is now 3-1 on the young season.

Southern Miss won its first two games at the Wiregrass Classic in Dothan, Ala., knocking off red-hot Georgia Southern and Indiana to run its record to 7-0. The 7-0 start was the best for the Golden Eagles since 1995. However, on Sunday USM fell, 3-2 to Troy, the same team that eliminated the Eagles from last year's NCAA Tourney.

Sixth-ranked Rice has run its winning streak to six games after taking all three of its games at the Rice Invitational. Included were wins over No. 28 Florida Atlantic and No. 7 Nebraska, along with a convincing triumph over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Houston went 2-1 against a trio of Texas opponents at the Southwest Diamond Classic in Frisco, Texas, the home of the AA Texas Rangers affiliate. The Cougars sandwiched wins over Texas-San Antonio and Texas-Arlington around a loss to Dallas Baptist.

After dropping the first two games of a series at traditional power LSU, UCF posted a 5-4 win on Sunday. The Golden Knights have all four of their victories on Sunday this season. More notable was the fact that Sunday represented the 1,160th win of UCF head coach Jay Bergman's career, moving him into 20th place on the NCAA's all-time list.

The Pac-10 has been a thorn in Conference USA's side this season and that continued again this weekend. No. 13 Arizona State improved to 4-0 against C-USA this season by sweeping a three-game series from UAB. Tulane dropped the first two games of its series at USC before bouncing back with a win on Sunday.

Inclement weather forced the cancellation of Marshall's entire home-opening series. The Thundering Herd will try and get their home schedule underway next Friday vs. Buffalo.
