For the second weekend in a row, six Conference USA teams went unbeaten. Tulane's dominating pitching highlighted the sweeps. The Green Wave did not allow a run in sweeping Siena and, could with a 2-0 win over New Orleans last Tuesday, they have posted four consecutive shutouts for the first time in school history. East Carolina closed out a 4-0 week by sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Michigan. The 25th-ranked Pirates have now won nine games in a row and are 15-6 on the year. Marshall sits atop the C-USA standings with the league's best overall record at 13-4. The Thundering Herd brought the brooms out on Canisius this past weekend. MU won two of the games by a single run and are now 9-0 in one-run contests this season. Southern Miss shook off a pair of tough mid-week losses against regional foes Southeastern Louisiana and South Alabama by taking all three games against Kent State. The Golden Eagles are now 15-6 on the season. Rice ran its record to 17-7 by winning three straight against Big West Conference foe Cal Poly. The Owls sandwiched a 7-2 win on Saturday around a pair of one-run victories. Memphis improved to 8-1 at home this season by sweeping three straight from Akron. The Tigers are 12-6 on the season after notching back-to-back one-run wins on Friday and Saturday along with a 12-6 victory on Sunday. UCF took two-of-three from Rutgers. The Golden Knights rallied to post a 10-8 win on Friday night, but saw its eight-game winning streak halted on Saturday. UCF started a new winning streak on Sunday with a 4-0 shutout. Kennesaw State won the final two games of a three-game set against UAB and Houston dropped all three games at No. 22 San Diego. There were a large number of close ball games for the second straight weekend. Conference USA teams posted a 9-2 record in one-run games this past weekend and are now 38-14 in such games this season. Marshall leads the way with a 9-0 mark in one-run games, while Memphis is 7-0. The ability to take care of business at home also continued. C-USA teams were 19-1 on their home fields this weekend, raising their season record to 96-29.
