Memphis, Houston and TCU have all punched their tickets to the Conference USA Tournament in Houston, May 26-30. The Tigers earned their spot in the event by sweeping Cincinnati over the weekend. Houston won two of three at Louisville, while TCU ended East Carolina’s 21-game conference game winning streak with a 3-1 victory on Sunday in Kinston, N.C.
Despite Sunday’s loss, ECU has clinched at least a share of its first regular season C-USA title. The Pirates will win the title outright and be the No. 1 seed in the tournament with one win at Southern Miss next weekend.
USM swept a three-game set at Charlotte and remain tied for second place with Tulane, which took all three games from Saint Louis.
The race for the final two berths in the conference tournament is clearer, but not yet decided. USF needs just one more to earn a spot, while UAB holds a 1 ½ game lead over Louisville for the eighth seed. Charlotte is alive, but will need some help.
