Conference USA's weekly baseball honors go to a pair of players that turned in outstanding performaces on the road to lead their respective teams to victory. Louisville's Ryan McKinnon has been named Hitter of the Week after helping the Cardinals to the conference tournament and East Carolina's Greg Bunn has been named Pitcher of the Week after helping secure the Pirates regular season title with a win at Southern Miss.
HITTER OF THE WEEK
RYAN McKINNON, LOUISVILLE
Junior, 3B, Hamilton, Ontario
McKinnon helped the Cardinals to a sweep at USF and a spot in the conference tournament by slugging two home runs and two doubles, and driving in eight runs in three games. He posted a .933 slugging percentage and .438 on-base mark with 14 total bases. McKinnon’s grand slam was the difference in Thursday’s 9-5 win. He went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a walk and a double, plating three in Friday’s 13-4 victory. McKinnon drove in a run with a bases-loaded single and then scored the game-tying run in the Cards’ eight-run rally in the ninth inning on Saturday.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
GREG BUNN, EAST CAROLINA
Junior, RHP, Wake Forest, N.C.
Bunn threw eight shutout innings at Southern Miss, holding the league’s second-best hitting team to just five hits as East Carolina clinched the regular season C-USA title with a 9-0 win. He struck out six and walked three in raising his season record to 8-0. It was Bunn’s fourth combined shutout this season.
