The Pirates advance to Sunday's championship game with the win, their first title game appearance since last hosting the event in 2002. In the first, Harrison Eldridge led off with a walk and then advanced all the way to third when Anthony Scelfo and Aja Barto mis-communicated on Ryan Wood's pop up. Wood took second on the play. Stephen Batts was up next and singled to score Eldridge and Wood for the early 2-0 lead. Kyle Roller then scorched a ground ball to second that got underneath Seth Henry's glove to score Batts for a 3-0 lead. Tulane rallied back to tie the game with one run each in the third, fourth and fifth innings. The first two runs came on solo home runs by Tim Guidry and Brad Emaus. The Pirates jumped back in front with two more runs in the seventh. Drew Schieber broke the tie with his sixth homerun to lead off the frame. Eldridge then reached base again and stole second to get himself into scoring position. Batts came through again with another RBI hit, a double to left center field for the 5-3 advantage. The Wave fired back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the seventh to get within one, but that was as close as they would come the rest of the way as East Carolina added three tallies in the eighth and one in the ninth to pull away. Eldridge finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Batts notched three RBI and went 2-for-5. Josh Dowdy grabbed the win for ECU, his fifth on the year. The sophomore went six innings, scattering six hits and striking out one. Aaron Loup took the loss, lasting 6.1 innings and striking out three, while giving up five runs. For Tulane, the loss also means that the team's nine-year streak of NCAA appearances will come to an end.
