Conference USA has received two bids to the 2010 NCAA Baseball Championship, as announced by the Division I baseball committee on Monday. Regular season champion Rice will participate in the Austin Regional as the No. 2 seed, while tournament champion Southern Miss will be the No. 3 seed in the Auburn Regional.

Rice (38-21) won the regular season Conference USA title, extending its streak of consecutive regular season and/or tournament titles to 15. The Owls are scheduled to meet Sun Belt Conference regular season champion Louisiana-Lafayette (37-20) at 1 p.m. CT in the first round of regional play on Friday, June 4. Rider University (36-21) and event host the University of Texas (46-11) complete the four-team Austin Regional field.

For the Owls this is the baseball program's 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Baseball Championship, which ranks as the fourth-longest active streak in the country. Miami (FL) is in the field for the 38th consecutive year, extending its own record, followed by Florida State (33) and Cal State Fullerton (19).

The Golden Eagles (35-22) will play the No. 2 seed Clemson (38-21) on Friday at 2 p.m. CT to open the regional. Auburn (40-19), as the No. 1 seed will face the No. 4 seed Jacksonville State (32-24) at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The 2010 NCAA Auburn Regional will mark the eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason for Southern Miss and its 11th overall. The regional appearance streak by the Golden Eagles is currently the tenth-longest streak in the nation.

The national top eight seeds in the 64-team field are Arizona State (47-8), Texas (46-11), Florida (42-15), Coastal Carolina (51-7), Virginia (47-11), UCLA (43-13), Louisville (48-12) and Georgia Tech (45-13).

Each of the 16 regionals features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. The regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June 4, to Monday, June 7 (if necessary). Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on www.NCAA.com/cws, Monday, June 7 at approximately 11 p.m. (ET).

The 64th Men's College World Series begins play Saturday, June 19, at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.

The two bids to the 2010 NCAA Championship gives Conference USA 49 NCAA appearances in its first 15 seasons. Ten straight years a C-USA team has advanced to a Super Regional and six straight years a team has reached the College World Series.
