OMAHA -- The game times and pairings for the first two days of the College World Series have been announced by the NCAA. The Rice Owls meet Georgia, the tournament's seventh seed and champion of the Athens super regional, at 1 pm Saturday (June 17) at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha. The Rice Ticket Office will begin taking reservations for a limited number of Rice tickets when it opens at 9 am Tuesday (June 13).

The CWS has announced that 1,000 reserved seats will be made available to the public for each game, the day of that game only, on site at the Rosenblatt Stadium Ticket Office beginning at 10 am.

Now in its 60th year, the College World Series is a double-elimination tournament that features the winners of the eight super regionals from across the country. The championship is a best-of-three series June 24-26.

The first game on Friday (June 16) is scheduled to begin at 1 pm central and features eighth-seed Georgia Tech (50-16) and top seed Clemson (52-14). Friday's second game at 6 pm pits North Carolina (50-13) and No. 5 seed Cal St. Fullerton (48-13).

Rice-Georgia is the first game of the day Saturday. Game two is Miami (Fla.) (41-22) squaring off against Oregon St. (44-14) at 6 pm.

The losers of Friday's two games play one another at 1 pm on Sunday, while Friday's winners face off at 6 pm Sunday. The losers of Saturday's games play each other at 1 pm on Monday, while Saturday's winners meet Monday at 6 pm.

The first game of the best-of-three championship series is set for 6 pm on June 24. The second game is scheduled for 6 pm the next day, while the third and deciding game (if necessary) is slated for 6 pm on June 26. Every College World Series game will be televised live by ESPN or ESPN2, and all are available in high definition.

The Rice broadcasts of the Owls' games will be live on the radio in the Houston area on KTRU, 91.7 FM. The KTRU audio feed will also be streamed all over the world on the Internet.

The 2006 CWS bracket includes seven teams that did not make it to Omaha last year. It is the second time since 1991 that as many as seven schools were not part of the field the previous year.
