Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - As the Florida Collegiate Summer League begins to wind down, the UCF baseball team saw three of its members selected to participate in the FCSL All-Star game. Senior Tim Russell (Maitland, Fla.), junior Kyle Sweat (Apopka, Fla.) and sophomore Shane Brown (Winter Park, Fla.) will all suit up in the game, scheduled to take place Sunday at 5 p.m. at Sanford Memorial Stadium.

Russell, who is playing for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, has had one of the most consistent summers in the entire league, currently ranking fifth with a .324 average and third with 16 RBI and a .451 on-base percentage. Meanwhile, the first baseman/catcher also leads his team with 24 hits, a .405 slugging percentage, 14 walks and only eight strikeouts.

Brown, a teammate of Russell in Winter Park, has started a team-high 22 games, posting a .259 batting average while throwing out five would-be basestealers from behind the plate. Brown has made just two errors in 158 chances for a .987 fielding percentage.

For the Winter Springs Barracudas, Sweat is 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA in five appearances, including three starts. He has struck out 17 in 17.2 innings of work. Sweat's first win came vs. Altamonte Springs June 30, where he did not give up an earned run in 5.0 innings, striking out seven in the process.
