Championship Central

The championship game of the 2010 GMC Sierra Men's Basketball Championship at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. will be a Texas-sized showdown as top-seeded UTEP will face No. 7 seed Houston. In the first semifinal on Friday, top-seeded UTEP advanced to their first conference tournament championship game since 2005 with a 75-61 win over Tulsa. Randy Culpepper scored 21 points and Arnett Moultrie added 18 as UTEP shot 52 percent from the field. In the second semifinal, Aubrey Coleman scored 27 points to lead Houston to a 74-66 victory over Southern Miss. Saturday's championship game is set for 10:30 am CT and will be televised by CBS.

Thursday quarterfinal action is complete at the 2010 GMC Sierra Men's Basketball Championship at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. The afternoon session brought a pair of surprises. Aubrey Coleman's jumper with five seconds left gave Houston a 66-65 victory over Memphis. For the second day in a row, the Southern Miss defense held an opponent under 50 points as the Golden Eagles eliminated UAB, 58-44. The evening session opened with Tulsa closing the game on a 35-12 run to defeat Marshall, 80-64. UTEP shot 57 percent from the field in posting an 80-64 win over UCF in the final game of the day.

In Wednesday play at the 2010 GMC Sierra Men's Basketball Championship at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., Aubrey Coleman scored 29 points to lead Houston to a 93-80 victory over East Carolina to open first round action. Southern Miss won its opening C-USA Tournament game for the fifth straight season with a 57-47 victory over Tulane. The evening session opened with Tulsa overcoming a 15-point second half deficit to beat Rice, 73-62. UCF concluded first round action by shooting 54.2 percent from the field in a 69-53 win over SMU.
