University of Houston senior guard Robert McKiver added another honor to his trophy case Wednesday when he was invited to compete at the DiGiorno College All-Star basketball game in San Antonio on Friday.

The game, which is being played on the Final Four floor for the first time, begins at 5 p.m. and will be televised live on CSTV.

McKiver will compete as a member of the American Team under head coach Dave Odom and assistant coaches Rick Duckett, Barry Sanderson, Ken Potosnak and Sheldon Everett.

As a senior during the 2007-08 season, McKiver was one of the nation¹s most dangerous offensive performers. He averaged nearly 24 points per game to rank second in Conference USA and ranked among the nation¹s best in free-throw percentage and 3-pointers made per game.

The New Haven, Conn., native scored at least 30 points in a game eight times during the 2007-08 campaign, including a Hofheinz Pavilion-record 52 points against C-USA rival Southern Miss on Feb. 27.

However, McKiver was more than just a scoring machine during his final collegiate season. He ranked among the league leaders in steals per game and finished second on the Cougars with nearly 100 assists.

For his impressive numbers, he was named to the All-Conference USA First Team for the second straight season and also earned places on the NABC All-District 9 and UABWA All-District VII teams.
