Owens Scores 16 in 2005 Portsmouth Invitational Championship Game


Andre Owens

Houston senior guard Andre Owens scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists to help the Portsmouth Sports Club win the championship game in the 2005 Portsmouth Invitational. The Invitational featured 64 of the top seniors in college basketball, and is the only post-collegiate event before the NBA Draft Camp in Chicago. Quemont Greer of DePaul led the Sports Club in scoring with 18 points, while Owens and Chuck Hayes of Kentucky added 16 points each. In his three games at the Portsmouth Invitational, Owens averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
