Davis Gets Two-Year Contract Extention
April 24, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB head men's basketball coach Mike Davis has received a two-year contract extension and raise, as approved Thursday by the compensation committee of the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. The contract, which goes through the 2012-13 campaign, also includes a base salary increase for the second-year UAB head coach from $600,000 to $625,000 annually. Davis will also be eligible for increased incentives, including $35,000 for an NCAA Tournament appearance, and $100,000 for leading the team to the national championship game. Davis and his Blazer team equaled the program's biggest single-season turnaround in school history last season. Following a 15-16 campaign in his first year at the helm of the men's basketball program, the Fayette, Alabama native led the Blazers to a 23-11 overall record and an appearance in the 2008 NIT. The 23 victories last season were the third-most in school history, while the eight-game improvement in the win column matched the previous best single-year turnaround when the Blazers went from 13 wins in 2001-02 to 21 victories in 2002-03.
