C-USA Men's Basketball Television Schedule Announced for 2005-06
Oct. 4, 2005 More than 30 nationally-televised games are scheduled to feature Conference USA men's basketball teams during the 2005-06 season, C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. Non-conference match-ups against teams from the Big East, Big 12, Pac-10 and Mountain West combine with great conference duels featuring all 12 member institutions to highlight C-USA's national package on ESPN, ESPN2, CSTV and CBS. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to broadcast seven men's basketball games, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, Dec. 3. ESPN will feature a highly-touted Memphis team squaring off against former C-USA foe Cincinnati at 3 p.m. EST, followed by a 7 p.m. EST tip-off on ESPN2 between Arizona, a 2005 NCAA Elite Eight performer, and Houston. New television partner CSTV will showcase 21 regular season games to a national audience, including three games in December being billed as the C-USA/Mountain West Challenge. Beginning Jan. 4, 2006, CSTV will feature a national game each Wednesday and Saturday. Memphis and East Carolina open the conference action with a game on Jan. 11 from Greenville, N.C., at 7 p.m. EST. CSTV will also offer a regional package including all 12 schools that will be announced at a later date. CSTV will also carry early rounds of the 2006 Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament from the FedExForum in Memphis, showing all four quarterfinal games live on Thursday, March 9, and the semifinals on March 10. CBS will once again air the championship game on Saturday, March 11 at 11:45 a.m. EST. Additional national telecasts for men's and women's basketball remain a possibility, as well as a complete regional schedule, and will be released at a later date.
