Five Tulsa players scored in double figures as the Golden Hurricane defeated Oklahoma State, 86-65, to hand OSU its first loss of the season. Justin Hurtt led TU with 21 points and Bishop Wheatley scored a career-high 17 points. UAB also picked its sixth-straight win by edging Middle Tennessee State, 65-64. The Blazers improve to 7-1 and are off to their best start since the 1998-99 season.

C-USA MEN'S BASKETBALL SHOOTING STARS (Wednesday, Dec. 2)
Tulsa junior G Justin Hurtt (Raytown, Mo.) scored 21 points and senior F Bishop Wheatley (Cedar Hill, Texas) added a career-high 17 to lead Tulsa past Oklahoma State, 86-65. Sophomore F Stephen Idlet (Prairie Grove, Ark.) came off the bench to score 13 points for Tulsa.
The win came in front of a sellout crowd at the Reynolds Center, where TU has now won 14 games in a row.
Senior C Jerome Jordan (Kingston, Jamaica) chipped in 11 points, nine rebounds and six blocks before leaving with a bruised leg, and classmate Ben Uzoh (San Antonio, Texas) had 11 points and six assists.
UAB senior F Howard Crawford (Eutaw, Ala.) scored a team-high 12 points as UAB held off Middle Tennessee State down the stretch
for a 65-64 victory. The Blazers won their sixth consecutive game and are now 7-1 through their first eight contests, which is the best start since the 1998-99 campaign.
The Blazers will now have one day off before returning to action when they host East Tennessee State on Friday in the UAB Health System Gene Bartow Classic. That contest, which is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff, will be a special affair, as UAB will honor legendary coach Gene Bartow throughout the contest.
SMU Mouhammed Faye registered his first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
East Carolina junior G Brock Young (Raleigh, N.C.) scored 24 points in an 80-68 loss to Charlotte.
Rice senior Lawrence Ghoram (Zachary, La.) matched a season high with 14 points, and sophomore F Emerson Herndon (Houston, Texas) posted a career-high scoring mark of 13 points, but the Owls dropped an 85-64 decision to Harvard on the road.
Senior Kevin Sims (Jackson, Miss.) moved into 20th place on the Tulane scoring chart (1,163 career points) and eighth on the free throws made list (345).
