Twenty-One Former C-USA Players in Arena Football

A total of 21 players from Conference USA schools are continuing their football careers in the Arena Football League. Ten of the 11 C-USA schools that competed in the league this past season have at least one player listed on the current rosters of the 17-team winter and spring league, which began its season last weekend. Houston and Louisville had the most players in Arena Football with four each, followed by Cincinnati with three.

The Philadelphia Soul, owned in part by rock star Jon Bon Jovi, have the most Conference USA players with five, followed by the five-time Arena Bowl champion Tampa Bay Storm who are carrying three former C-USA standouts.

In addition, 17 players that hail from the six schools that will join Conference USA this fall (Marshall, Rice, SMU, Tulsa, UCF and UTEP) are also listed on Arena Football League opening week rosters.

Arena Football is beginning its 19th season. The league is in its third season of a television contract with NBC. At least four games are televised on a regional basis every Sunday, including the playoffs and Arena Bowl XIX from Las Vegas.
