TCU Announces Future Football Schedules

Home-and-home series with former Southwest Conference rivals Texas Tech, Arkansas and Baylor highlight future TCU non-conference football schedules, TCU Athletics Director Eric Hyman announced today.

The Horned Frogs will travel to Lubbock to face Texas Tech in 2004, then the Red Raiders return to Fort Worth for a meeting in the 2006 season. The two teams have met 52 times previously, most recently in 1995. Arkansas will come to TCU in 2008 and the Frogs will travel to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks in the 2009 season. The Frogs and 'Hogs have battle 68 times previously on the gridiron, but have not met since the 1991 season. The Frogs have a four-year agreement to play Baylor. TCU will host the Bears in 2007 and 2010, and will travel to Waco in 2006 and 2011. The game in 2006 will be the 104th meeting between the two Texas schools in a series that started in 1899 and was competed last in 1995.

"I'm excited about our future schedules," said TCU head football coach Gary Patterson. "We not only will play some schools from the major conferences like the Big 12, SEC and Pac 10, but also will play several schools that are in our region and are attractive games for our fans."

In addition to its contests with the three former Southwest Conference schools, TCU has also scheduled series with Stanford, SMU and Navy, and has future contests on tap versus Arizona, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Northwestern.

TCU will entertain Stanford in 2007 and will travel to Palo Alto in 2008. TCU and SMU will continue its rivalry each year through 2010, with the exception of the 2006 campaign. The Frogs will host Navy in both 2003 and 2005, and go to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. in 2006, completing a four-game agreement. TCU has road games slated at Arizona in 2003 and at Oklahoma in 2005. The Frogs will host Vanderbilt in 2003 and complete their four-game contract with Northwestern with a home game in 2004.

"We are really pleased to have a non-conference football schedule that will excite TCU and the Fort Worth community," said Hyman. "We believe we have accomplished our goal because we have Stanford, Arkansas, Baylor, Navy, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Northwestern all coming to Amon Carter Stadium. In addition, we will continue the series with SMU, playing every year with the exception of 2006, when they have a scheduling conflict."

In addition to the non-conference slate, the Frogs will have eight Conference USA contests each season. A 12th game is allowed by the NCAA in both the 2003 and 2008 campaigns. Here is the TCU non-conference football schedule through 2011:
