HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss announced today the signing of offensive lineman R.J. Brown (McLain, Miss.) to a national letter of intent and grant-in-aid. Brown is the third junior college player the Golden Eagles have inked this week.

Brown, a 6-foot-3, 296 lbs., played both guard and center at Jones County Junior College as the Bobcats tallied a 9-2 record this fall including a trip to the Mississippi Junior College championship game.

He is a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, where he played his prep football at Greene County High School. His 2003 team won the 3A state championship.

The Golden Eagles also signed wide receiver Freddie Parham (Margaret, Ala/East Central CC) and tight end Jonathan Massey (Gautier, Miss./Copiah-Lincoln CC).
