Williaamsburg, Va. - The University of Tulsa men's golf team along with 29 other collegiate teams begin competition at the NCAA Championships this week, Wednesday-Saturday, May 30-June 2, at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club - Gold Course.

After claiming the NCAA Central Regional title, 16th-ranked Tulsa will be making its ninth appearance at the NCAA Championships and the sixth under Head Coach Bill Brogden. This year, Tulsa placed among the top-3 teams in nine of 13 tournaments and captured four tournament titles. Tulsa has finished among the top-3 teams in its last six tournaments, including five first- or second-place performances.

Tulsa enters the event with a very balanced attack featuring four seniors and one sophomore. All five golfers have won at least one tournament title this year, as senior Mitch Cohlmia and sophomore Nicolas Geyger had two first-place showings apiece. Geyger and senior Brett Myers share a team-best 72.4 stroke average, followed by senior Sam Korbe's 72.6 average. Cohlmia has a 72.9 stroke average, while senior Ryan Henry has an average of 73.1.

Myers and Cohlmia earned first-team all-Conference USA honors, while Korbe and Henry were second team selections. Korbe, who is one of five finalists for the prestigious Byron Nelson Award, has placed among the top-20 a team-high nine times this season.

It's the third time in the 2000's that Tulsa has advanced to the NCAA Championships. Tulsa's best finish at the NCAA's was a ninth-place performance at the 2002 event.

This is the 18th team in Brogden's 36 years as a collegiate head coach that he has led a team to the NCAA Championships. His best finish came as the head coach at Oral Roberts University, when his 1981 team placed second overall.

Tulsa will be paired with Georgia and Alabama when the teams tee-off on Wednesday. Tulsa's tee times begin at 12:12 pm (ET). There will be a cut to 15 teams after Friday's third round.
