NORMAN, Okla. (GCAA/SMU) - SMU senior golfer Colt Knost has been named to the PING All-South Central Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday, May 30. This marks the second-straight year Knost has be so honored.

Knost, a native of Pilot Point, Texas, was the 2007 Conference USA Golfer of the Year and won three tournaments on the season. Knost also qualified for the EDS Byron Nelson Championship and became the first amateur since 1993 to make the cut following a scorching round of 64 during day two of the PGA event. Knost is currently ranked 10th in the nation by the Saragin Ratings and 17th by GolfStat.

The PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked nationally in the top 75 according to the GolfStat or Sagarin rankings not included their regions top 15 are added to their All-Region team. Members of the PING All-Region teams are automatically eligible for PING All-America honors, to be announced following the NCAA Division I Championships.

This season's PING All- South Central Region team is as follows: Olver Bekker (Lamar), Bronson Burgoon (Texas A&M), Matthew Carvell (SE Louisiana), Casey Clendenon (Lamar), Oscar Floren (Texas Tech), Robert Gates Jr. (Texas A&M), Justin Harding (Lamar), Jordan Irwin (Houston), Colt Knost (SMU), Andrew Landry (Arkansas), Lance Lopez (Texas), Austin Schauer (Texas A&M), Dusty Smith (Lamar), Dawie VanDerWalt (Lamar) and Jhonattan Vegas (Texas).
