Five Tulsa Golfers Earn Ping Regional Honors
May 31, 2007 Norman, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa senior golfers Mitch Cohlmia, Ryan Henry, Sam Korbe, Brett Myers and sophomore Nicolas Geyger were all named to the PING All-Regional Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), it was announced today. Conference USA had a record seven golfers named to the all-region team, while SMU's Colt Knost and Houston's Jordan Irwin joined the five Hurricane golfers. Korbe, who received the GCAA's prestigious Byron Nelson Award on Tuesday, Henry and Cohlmia are making their second regional appearances. The Tulsa fivesome combined for seven medalist honors during the regular season and led the Hurricane to four tournament victories. Myers and Geyger share a team-leading 72.4 stroke average, while Geyger and Cohlmia each won two tournament titles in 2006-07. Korbe has placed among the top-20 in nine of 13 tournaments this year. Myers and Henry have each had seven top-10 finishes, followed by six top-10 performances each by Cohlmia and Geyger. The nine PING All-Region teams are comprised of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked nationally in the top 75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region's top 15 are added to the All-Region team. Members of the PING All-Region teams are automatically eligible for PING All-America honors, which will be announced following the NCAA Division I Championships currently beind held in Williamsburg, Va.
