IRVING, Texas - In Conference USA men's golf action last week, the East Carolina men shot a school-record team total of 842 to capture the Mid Pines Intercollegiate team title and earned its first tournament championship since 2005 and first championship away from its home course since 2002. Other teams with top-five finishes last week include UAB taking second at the Poppy Hills Invitational, and UTEP taking third at the Gene Miranda Invitational.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
East Carolina's Chris Ault and Marshall's Larie Lynch claim this season's first Conference USA Golfer of the Week awards. Ault tied for third at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C. with a seven-under par 209. The senior carded a career-low of 209 for the 54-hole event. His efforts helped the Pirates earn their first team tournament championship since 2005.

MEN'S
BRAD BRAND - Marshall

Brand shot even par in Marshall's first event of the season, which placed him in a five-way tie for 13th at the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate.

BEN TEWES - SMU
Tewes tied for 10th at the Purdue/Midwest Shootout last weekend at the par 72, 7,467-yard Kampen Course. Tewes, a junior, shot 74 at the 18-hole event, which had been set for 36 holes but was shortened due to thunderstorms.

BRAD SMITH - UAB
Smith had a solid tournament and led the Blazers to a second-place finish at the St. Mary's Invitational. Smith had a career-best finish of third place shooting 72-69-75=216. His round of 69 tied for the third-lowest of his career.

HERBERT DAY - UTEP
Day shot a four-under par 212 (68-69-75) in his first collegiate tournament, leading UTEP to a third-place showing at the Gene Miranda Falcoln Invite.
