IRVING, Texas - SMU sophomore Ben Tewes is this week's Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week after finishing third individually en route to leading the Mustangs to the team title at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate.

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK (10/17)
BEN TEWES - SMU
So., Lincoln, Neb. (Oklahoma St.)
Tewes finished third individually after carding a 5-over par 218 (77-68-73) en route to leading the SMU men's golf team to the team title at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,417-yard Oak Tree Golf Club after a sudden-death playoff with Texas Tech. The two squads each posted three-round totals of 892 (+40), forcing the teams to move back to the first hole to decide the champion. The format featured all five players from both squads in the playoff with all five scores counting. After matching each other with 1-over scores at the first, SMU prevailed by playing the second playoff hole at 4-over to the Red Raiders' 5-over. The team win was the first for SMU this season and came against a loaded field that included four squads ranked in the top 35 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches poll. This is the first career C-USA weekly award for the sophomore.
