IRVING, Texas - Tulsa tied with Virginia Tech for first-place at The Landfall Tradition on Sunday afternoon, but Tech was awarded the medalist trophy on the basis of the fifth player's score. In other men's golf action, SMU finished as runner-up the UTSA Intercollegiate at the 7,103-yard, par-72 Comanche Trace Golf Course on Tuesday. The Mustangs carded a 54-hole total of 847 and fell just three shots back of champion St. John's.

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
NICOLAS GEYGER - Tulsa
Jr., Santiago, Chile (St. George College)

At The Landfall Tradition, Geyger led from start to finish at the par-72 Country Club of Landfall as he posted rounds of 67-68-72 for a nine-under par 207 in the field of 60 golfers. It marked his best finish of the season and was the second straight year that he claimed medalist honors at The Landfall Tradition. The Hurricane tied for the team lead, shooting an even 900. This is Geyger's third career weekly honor, his first of 2007-08.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
Brady Shivers - Houston
Shivers finished in fourth place at the Del Walker Intercollegiate on Oct. 25-26 with a 4-under-par score of 209 on the par 71, 6,633-yard course at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif. Shivers sandwiched season-low scores of 69 around an even par 71 in the second round of the tournament. His 2-under-par score of 69 is his lowest 18-hole score this season. His previous low was a 71 in the final round of the Duke Classic in Houston's previous tournament, giving him four straight rounds with a score of 71 or better.

BRANDON BUNN - Memphis
Bunn paced a Tiger team that competed against eight of the country's top 40 teams at UNC Greensboro's Bridgestone Golf Championship and turned in a 15th place scorecard. He improved his score each round (75-72-70) to finish the tournament at one over par to earn his second top-20 finish of the fall season.

BEN TEWES and KELLY KRAFT - SMU
Temmates Kraft and Tewes tied for third at 11-under 205 to lead the SMU men's golf team to a runner-up finish the UTSA Intercollegiate at the 7,103-yard, par-72 Comanche Trace Golf Course in Kerrville, Texas. SMU carded a 54-hole total of 847 and fell just three shots back of champion St. John's (844).

GREG FOREST - UCF
Forest led the Knights to a third-place showing at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Championship, posting a third-place finish at the 15-team event. The junior recorded a six-under 66 in the final round to finish at 212 (-4). He began the final day of play tied for 16th. Forest opened the three-round event by recording a three-over 75 in the first round. He then recovered to post a one-under 71 in the second round. His performance marked the top showing by a UCF player this season. Thanks to Forest's performance, the Knights finished the tournament ahead of several nationally-ranked teams, most notably No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 22 Indiana and No. 24 North Carolina.

EAST CAROLINA
East Carolina concluded the fall portion of its 2007-08 schedule with a sixth place finish at the Mizuno Southbridge Intercollegiate Oct. 15-16... The Pirates finished the 54-hole event with a team total of 863... Sophomore Tripp Brizendine fired a two-under par 214 (71-70-73) to earn a tie for eighth place... Classmate Tanner Briele, one of only two Pirates to shoot par or better in the final round, carded a two-over 218 (74-72-72) and tied for 22nd with teammate Andre Thorsen (76-68-74)... ECU is currently ranked No. 71 in the latest Golfweek rankings... The Pirates will resume play in February at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.

HOUSTON
Houston recorded its second top five finish of the season with a fourth-place finish at the Del Walker Intercollegiate... The Cougars shot 7-under-par as a team at the tournament... In addition to Brady Shivers' fourth-place finish, senior Jordan Irwin and sophomore Jackie Lindsey were two of four golfers tied for 16th place with even-par scores of 213... Junior Ben Moser finished the tournament in 35th place at 4-over-par, while junior Steven Frazier tied for 38th-place at 5 over... The Cougars return to play in February at the GADO/North Texas Classic.

MARSHALL
Marshall concluded its fall season with an 11th-place finish at the Belmont Fall Shootout Oct. 15-16... Sophomore Christian Brand was the Thundering Herd's top player at the 54-hole event, posting a score of 223 (76-70-77) to finish in a tie for 22nd place... Marshall fired a team score of 911 (309-299-303), but the majority of the event was played in high winds and wet conditions... Sophomore Phil DiLorenzo recorded a 227 (73-78-76) good enough for a tie for 38th place... The Herd will return to tournament competition in the spring at the RoadRunner Intercollegiate in San Antonio in mid-February.

MEMPHIS
Memphis recorded another top-10 finish, this week at UNC-Greensboro's Bridgestone Collegiate Championship, to wrap up their fall season... The Tigers finished 10th overall in the most competitive field they faced this fall... Brandon Bunn's third-round 70 gave him a 217 (75-72-70) for the week and a tie for 15th overall at one over par, and Ian Rochester's 220 (70-73-77) was good enough for 25th individually... The Tigers will open play again in next spring at the Rice Intercollegiate in February.

RICE
Competing at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., Rice placed 14th with an 885 (292-299-294) after posting a 294 in Tuesday's final round... The 885 total is the teams' lowest three-round tournament total for this fall... Freshman Michael Whitehead shot a three-under 68 in the final round to lead the Rice contingent with a 214 (76-70-68) to place tied for 23rd... The 68 shot by Whitehead is also the team's lowest one-round score and his 214 is the Owls' lowest three-round total... The Owls are back in action when they compete at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., on Nov. 5-7.

SMU
SMU finished as runner-up the UTSA Intercollegiate at the 7,103-yard, par-72 Comanche Trace Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 30... The Mustangs carded a 54-hole total of 847 and fell just three shots back of champion St. John's (844)... Individually, Mustangs Ben Tewes and Kelly Kraft tied for third at 11-under 205, while Draegen Majors also finished near the top of the leaderboard, tying for 15th at 1-over 217... SMU will now take the rest of the fall season off and will return to the links in February at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii.

SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss shot rounds of 297 and 301 on the final day of the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Classic Oct. 16 to finish 12th out of 18 teams in the 54-hole tournament being played at the Squire Creek Golf Course in Ruston, La... Junior Rocky Cleland shot a final-day 74 and 75 to finish at a three-over 219, which was good for a 23rd-place tie... Senior Kyle Ramey was next for the Golden Eagles as he shot a 71 and 75 on the last day to place tied for 28th with a four-over 220... Soutehrn Miss comes in at No. 84 in the latest Golfweek Top 100 rankings... The Golden Eagles finish the fall portion of their season Nov. 5-6, when they play host to the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate.

TULSA
Tulsa tied with Virginia Tech for first-place at The Landfall Tradition on Sunday afternoon, but Tech was awarded the medalist trophy on the basis of the fifth player's score... Junior Nicolas Geyger led wire-to-wire to claim medalist honors in the men's event, fashioning a 9-under-par 67-68-72=207 over the three days... He finished with a five-stroke stroke margin over Ohio State's Bo Coconis, chipping in from off the green on the final hole to cap a stellar three days.. It marked the second straight year that Geyger has won medalist honors at The Landfall Tradition... Last year, he shared the individual honor with former teammate Mitch Cohlmia... For his efforts, he was named C-USA Men's Golfer of the Week... Tulsa's next tournament will be at the Rio Pinar Invitational, Feb. 25-26, in Orlando, Florida.

UAB
Sophomore Adam West, playing in his second career tournament, led No. 33 UAB at the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges Oct. 12-14, carding a career-best five-under par 211 (71-70-70)... However, West's performance was not enough as the Blazers closed the event in 13th overall with an 875 (294-285-296) on the three-day, 72-hole event... West finished in seventh-place individually... Senior Brad Smith was the only other Blazer to close play among the top 30 golfers, ending the event in 29th with a 217 (73-70-74)... UAB's next tournament will be the team's fall finale, when it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. to compete at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate on Nov. 5-6.

No. 23 UCF
Thanks to a third-place showing by junior Greg Forest, UCF finished third on Tuesday at the 15-team UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Championship at the Forest Oaks Country Club... UCF posted a 279 (-9) on the final day of the three-round tournament as three Knights finished in the top 20... The Knights concluded play at 866 (+2), six strokes behind first-place Louisville... Forest recorded a six-under 66 on Tuesday to finish at 212... Freshman Jhared Hack entered the final round tied for 29th, but carded a four-under 68 to tie for 11th at 216 (E)... Junior David Johnson recorded an even-par 72 to tie for 18th... The tournament served as the Knights' final event of the fall... UCF will return to action on Feb. 17 at the John Hayt Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.

UTEP
UTEP wrapped up its fall season by taking 15th place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Las Cruces, N.M... The Miners shot 297 as a team on the final day of the tournament to compile a two-day total of 891 (293-301-297)... Herbert Day tied for 56th place (72-79-71-222), Zac Hildenbrand tied for 60th place (69-79-75-223), Jordan Bucy tied for 63rd place (75-75-74-224), Chad Keohane tied for 84th place (79-72-78-229), and Tanner Taff tied for 84th place (77-75-77-229)... The Miners have now concluded play this fall and will return to the links Feb. 20-22 at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
