BRADENTON - The UCF men's soccer team tied Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, 1-1, as the Golden Knights made their spring debut at the IMG Soccer Academy on Saturday.

Both goals were scored in the first half. Midfielder Floyd Franks earned Chicago's tally on short range header off a set piece, while UCF countered with one from senior forward Billy Judino. Judino knocked home the rebound from freshman Tyler Davis' original shot.

Although the Fire owned control of the first half, the Golden Knights took over the second period. Both teams earned solid scoring chances but were unable to capitalize.

Junior Brian Pope and sophomore Marcus Rein split goalkeeping duties for UCF.

"Chicago provided us with a chance to test ourselves against some great young professional players," said UCF head coach Brent Erwin. "Our team took advantage of the opportunity and played well."
