DeFreitas' Goal Gives Tulsa 1-0 Victory Over UAB in C-USA Championship Quarterfinals

Birmingham, Alabama - Junior forward Eric DeFreitas punched in a goal for top-seeded and seventh-ranked Tulsa, to give the Golden Hurricane a 1-0 victory over eighth-seeded UAB on Thursday afternoon in the Conference USA Championship quarterfinals. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday night, but inclement weather forced the game into a one-day delay. DeFreitas scored the lone goal of the contest and his seventh goal of the season in the 10th minute of the contest off a deflection from a defender. TU out-shot the Blazers, 13-3, including a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey earned his first start in goal this season and tallied one save for the only shutout in the quarterfinals. TU will face fourth-seeded South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. (CST) on Friday night at West Campus Field on the UAB campus.
