Saint Louis' Ibisevic Named Soccer America MVP

Vedad Ibisevic

Soccer America has tabbed Saint Louis Billikens forward Vedad Ibisevic as one of its 2003 college soccer MVPs. Ibisevic is the only freshman among the 11 players that the magazine annually selects to its elite list of NCAA Division I performers. Coastal Carolina striker Joseph Ngwenya is the Men’s Player of the Year.

Ibisevic already has earned first-team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He was Conference USA’s Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-Conference selection. Ibisevic tied for fourth nationally in scoring with 40 points (18G, 4A). He shattered Brian McBride’s SLU freshman scoring records set in 1990 of 29 points and 12 goals.

The fourth-ranked Billikens won their fourth consecutive C-USA postseason tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals and finished the year with a 15-4-3 record.
