Three First-Half Goals Secures Win for Mustang Men's Soccer, 3-2, Over Richland College
April 20, 2007 DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the game and held on for a 3-2 victory over Richland College in spring play at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU. At the 1:27 mark, Richard Oliva tapped in a rebounded ball which struck the post, giving SMU a quick 1-0 lead. At the 3:25 mark, Scott Corbin scored off a centering feed from Jeff Harwell. Manuel Mariel scored SMU's third goal at the 10:12 mark off a rebounded shot which glanced off the post. In the second half, Richland College got on the scoreboard off a successful penalty kick in the 58th minute. Richland College narrowed the gap to 3-2 off a one-timer at the 80:07 minute. SMU closes out its spring season with a contest against Midwestern State next Friday (April 27) at 7:00 p.m. at Westcott Field. The game is conjunction with the SMU Soccer Coaches' Clinic.
