UNCC Men's Soccer Will Not be Resumed; South Florida Wins by Forfeit
CHICAGO - The men's soccer match between UNC Charlotte and South Florida that was suspended on October 3 due to inclement weather will not be resumed, it was announced today. UNC Charlotte will forfeit the match to South Florida, giving USF a 1-0 victory.
The match was suspended in the 66th minute due to lightning and heavy rain, with South Florida leading 2-1. NCAA rules stipulate that 70 minutes of a match must be played in order for it to be considered an official match.
All statistics which occurred in the match are now nullified, with the exception of any cautions or ejections that were called.
The victory gives South Florida a conference record of 2-4 and an overall mark of 6-7. UNC Charlotte finishes the Conference USA season at 1-7 and currently has an overall mark of 5-9.
