Former Soccer All-American Jon Busch Named To MLS All-Star Team

Former Charlotte 49ers men's soccer All-American Jon Busch was selected as a reserve for the east squad in the Major League Soccer All-Star game, Saturday, July 31 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Currently a goalkeeper for the Columbus Crew, he has played all 1,260 minutes in goal this season. He has recorded 66 saves and five shutouts for the Crew. His 1.14 goals against average is currently the fourth-best in the MLS.
At Charlotte, Busch was named first-team All-Americas by the NSCAA in 1996 as he helped lead the 49ers to their first ever appearance in the College Cup and a school-record 19 wins. In 1996, he recorded a career-high 12 shutouts, including two in the NCAA Tournament, and a career-low 0.89 goals against average. He was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. He was also a three-time first-team All-Conference USA selection.
