John Joins U.S. Under-20 Team In Ireland

Saint Louis University sophomore forward Will John (Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst) will compete with the U.S. Under-20 men's soccer team in the Northern Ireland Milk Cup this week. The Milk Cup will take place from July 16-23.

Included on the U.S. roster are four professionals, including two Major League Soccer (MLS) players. Nine of the 18 players will be making their second trip overseas in the past month.

The U.S. leaves today and will open up the tournament in Group 2 against Denmark on July 17, in Belfast. The U-20s will then play in the eight-team tournament against Wales on July 21. Depending upon its finish in Group 2, the U.S. will play for its final standing on July 23 in the placement match, going up against the team in Group 1 (Brazil, Russia, Northern Ireland and Israel) that finishes in the same position.

This will be John's second international appearance this summer. He played with the U.S. Under-20 National Team in a tour of Korea in June. In 2003, John was a Soccer America Freshman All-American when he was the Billikens' second leading scorer with 23 points (9G, 5A).
