IRVING, Texas - Tulsa and SMU each garnered wins on Saturday at the SMU Invitational-PREGO to move C-USA to a 9-2-1 overall record on the season. Tulsa junior Austin Neil recorded the season's first hat trick to lead the Golden Hurricane to a 3-1 win over Tulsa. SMU followed with another 3-1 win over Lipscomb to move the Mustangs to 2-0 start.

Junior Austin Neil posted his first career hat trick as he netted Tulsa's three goals in the season-opening 3-1 win over Seattle. Neil, a member of the Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List, was named the C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and tallied three second-half goals in a 12-minute span to take Tulsa from a 0-1 deficit to a 3-1 victory. Assisting Neil's goals were seniors Ashley McInnes (Aberdeen, Scotland), Chris Taylor (Edmond, Okla.) and Zach Nulisch (Sunnyvale, Texas). The Golden Hurricane outshot Seattle by a 23-9 margin during the game.

SMU took its second win of the season in a 3-1 decision over Lipscomb. The men's soccer team defeated Lipscomb 3-1 at Westcott Field Saturday night to open the SMU Classic. Freshmen led the scoring once again for the Mustangs as Robbie Derschang (Englewood, Colo.), Zach Barnes (Flower Mound, Texas) and AJ Corrado (Zionsville, Ind.) each found the back of the net for SMU. Derschang opened the scoring, netting his first collegiate goal, in just the fourth minute of play. Barnes tallied the eventual game-winner in the 27th minute for the Mustangs as he chipped the ball in near-post from the edge of the six yard box for his second goal of the season. SMU moves to 2-0 on the season with the win.
