The Blazers won the UAB Classic championship title, posting shutouts over Birmingham-Southern (3-0) and Mercer (1-0), and swept this week's Conference USA Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors. Junior transfer Frank Brown netted both game-winning goals to earn the offensive nod, while sophomore goalkeeper Wes Johnson has not allowed a goal in the UAB net for 373 consecutive minutes.

Brown was named the MVP of the 2007 UAB Classic, leading the Blazers to the championship title. The junior forward scored both game-winning goals in a pair of shutout victories against Birmingham-Southern (3-0) and Mercer (1-0). Brown scored the lone goal Sunday against Mercer at the 4:22 mark in the first overtime period to give UAB its first classic title since 2004. This is the first weekly award for the transfer, who currently tops the C-USA scoring chart with 10 points (four goals and two assists) on the season.

Johnson picks up his second consecutive conference honor as he once again recorded back-to-back shutouts in the net for the Blazers. The sophomore has not allowed a goal for 373 minutes. Johnson also earned a spot on the UAB Classic All-Tournament team for his efforts in helping his team to the championship title.
