IRVING, Texas - No. 20 Tulsa downed sixth-ranked SMU, 4-1, on Saturday night at the Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas. The Golden Hurricane moved to 5-3-1 on the season and 1-0 in Conference USA, while SMU fell to 6-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the league. Ryan Mirsky put SMU on the board quickly as he punched in a header off a corner kick in the third minute, but Tulsa dominated the remaining 87 minutes, scoring four goals, two in each half. No. 20 Tulsa 4, No. 6 SMU 1 Justin Chavez tied up the contest, 1-1, at the 16:46 mark as he scored off a 12 yard kick. Jeovahnni Sandez would score the game-winning goal with just a little under four minutes remaining in the first half off a cross from Austin Neil from six yards out. In the second half, the Golden Hurricane's Kyle Corrie scored from point-blank range, with Jose Parada picking up the assist, and Zach Nulisch would score off a long ball in the 88th minute for the fourth and final goal of the contest for TU. SMU out-shot Tulsa, 16-14, but it was the Golden Hurricane who held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. The Blazers (3-4-2, 1-0 C-USA) wasted no time getting on the board first with Sawchak scoring four minutes into to the contest. The Atlanta, Ga. native drilled a shot from 25 yards out after receiving a pass from Two-Boys Gumede and Michal Mravec. Thanks to the early goal UAB was able to control the flow of play in the first half and took a one goal lead into the locker room. UAB was able to put the game away with Ushedo's goal at the 70:35 mark. Senior Carlo Schiavoni set the goal up with a cornerkick which found the head of Ushedo who buried the header into the left side of the net for the final goal. Junior Wes Johnson played the entire 90 minutes in the net for the Blazers to record his first shutout of the season and fifth of his career. The result marked the first time the Blazers opened conference play with a road victory since a 2-1 win at Marquette in the 2004 campaign. Kentucky 0,UNC-Asheville 0 Kentucky (4-2-2) has not allowed a goal in 224 minutes, its second consecutive scoreless tie, as the Wildcats tied Alabama A&M last Sunday. UK allowed a goal in a 2-1 win over Michigan last Wednesday in the 86th minute. UNC-Asheville did not lose the match against Kentucky for the first time in 10 meetings in the series, as the Wildcats own a 9-0-1 advantage all-time. Entering the game, UK had outscored UNC-Asheville 30-4 in its nine previous meetings. Williams, a junior from Fairfax Station, Va., finished with two saves in his 10th career shutout. Bulldog keeper Lassi Hurskainen, a 22-year old freshman who served in the Finish military before traveling oversees to play collegiate soccer, finished with three saves, keeping UNCA in the game throughout. No. 19 South Carolina 4, Davidson 0 South Carolina dominated the offensive side of the pitch, posting a season-high 22 shots, including nine on frame. A pair of freshman led the Carolina attack, as Danny Cates and David MacVane each contributed four shots, while Arthur and Hawkins tallied three apiece. Junior striker Bryan Lowder, freshman midfielder Stephen Morrissey and Cates each tallied one assist, while MacVane contributed two for Carolina in the win. Florida International, Florida Gulf Coast 0 After a scoreless first half, the Golden Panthers scored in the 66th minute on a give-and-go from the top of the box to take a 1-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Corey Kendall began the scoring play by finding freshman, and fellow defender, Jahbari Willis who quickly gave the ball back to Kendall for the game-winner. For more, check out the FIU website. Marshall 3, Bowling Green 3 The Thundering Herd (0-7-1) scored first in the contest when junior Dustin Dawes scored his second goal of the year off a soft pass from senior Kolby LaCrone.
