Memphis' Metcalf Named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week

Andy Metcalf

Junior forward Andy Metcalf became the second-straight University of Memphis men's soccer player to be named to a national team of the week on Wednesday.

Soccer America selected the Jackson, Tenn. native to its team for the week ending on Oct. 3. It is Metcalf's first national player of the week honor.

The Preseason All-Conference USA selection scored three goals, including both game-winners as the Tigers posted victories against Cincinnati, 2-0, and Marquette, 3-1. He scored two goals within the first 15 minutes against the Golden Eagles on Saturday and moves into a tie for third place in the conference with six goals on the season. Metcalf also earned C-USA Co-Offensive Conference Player of the Week.

Metcalf is the third Tiger to ever be named to the Soccer America team of the week. Sean Fraser earned the honor twice in 2001 and current Memphis women's soccer coach Brooks Monaghan was named to the team in 1993. Last week Dayton O'Brien was named to College Soccer News' Team of the Week.
