UAB's Monteiro, SLU's Politis Are Oct. 15 C-USA Men's Soccer Players of the Week
No. 4 Saint Louis is off to its best start since 1979 (9-0), while No. 8 UAB has won its last six matches. As a result, the Billikens and Blazers have the Oct. 15 C-USA Men's Soccer Players of the Week.

UAB junior forward FLAVIO MONTEIRO is the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 14. After missing three weeks due to a hamstring injury, Monteiro scored his first goal in a 2-1 win over Louisville just two minutes after he had entered the match. He had a goal and an assist against No. 13 Furman, the goal being the game-winner at the 74-minute mark.

Saint Louis’s JOHN POLITIS is the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 14. He posted nine saves in a 4-0 win at Cincinnati. He made two point blank saves when the match was still scoreless. He was strong in the SLU penalty area as UC had 10 corner kicks.
