Six teams were in action tonight with two Conference USA matches and two non-conference games on the schedule. No. 25 UAB moved into first place in the C-USA standings with a 1-0 victory against Memphis. South Carolina and SMU battled into double overtime when Carolina senior MF Jeff Scannella scored the game-winner. Marshall picked up its fourth-straight win with a 1-0 shutout of in-state rival Charleston, a nationally-ranked NCAA Division II squad. While Kentucky also played an intrastate rival in No. 7 Louisville, just getting edged out by a 1-0 decision.
C-USA MEN'S SOCCER SHOOTING STARS (Wednesday, Oct. 14)
No. 25 UAB moved into first place in the C-USA standings with a 1-0 victory against visiting Memphis. Senior captain Dean Sorrell (Birmingham, Ala.) scored the lone goal of the game, while sophomore goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski (Columbus, Ind.) recorded his fifth shutout of the season.
South Carolina senior MF Jeff Scannella (Alpharetta, Ga.) scored the golden goal off a direct free kick in the 103rd minute to lead the Gamecocks to a 3-2 double overtime victory against SMU. Juniors Sam Arthur (Roswell, Ga.) and Will Traynor (St. Charles, Mo.) also scored for Carolina, which ranked No. 7 in the NCAA's first RPI report this week.
SMU junior transfer Josue Soto (Houston, Texas) scored his first goal as a Mustang to put the team up early. Senior F/MF Dane Saintus (Arlington, Texas) added the second goal of the night for SMU.
Kentucky was just edged out by No. 7 Louisville, 1-0. The Wildcats do still hold a 9-4-4 advantage in the series with their in-state rival.
Marshall freshman MF Ryan McLeod (Toronto, Ontario) scored his first collegiate goal as the Thundering Herd defeated Charleston, 1-0. The win against its in-state rival, the No. 15 nationally-ranked team in NCAA Division II, was their fourth straight.
Marshall and UCF will square off Sunday and that match will be broadcast on CBS College Sports. The tape delayed telecast will be shown Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
Three other Conference USA match-ups are scheduled for this Saturday night.

C-USA MEN'S SOCCER SHOOTING STARS (Tuesday, Oct. 13)
UCF built a 4-0 halftime lead against Mercer as junior Camilo Rendon (Miami, Fla.) scored his first two career goals. The Knights held on for a 4-2 victory against in their final non-conference game of the season. Sophomore Cameron Cooksey (Marietta, Ga.) and freshman Nicholas Keown-Robson (Aukland, New Zealand) each had a pair of assists in the contest.
