IRVING, Texas - No. 16 Tulsa moved to 9-3-1 on the season and remains perfect in league play with a 5-0 record after downing UCF, 2-0. TU is currently on a seven-game winning streak, and in that time has scored 18 goals. Goalkeeper Tyrel Lacey picked up his fourth shutout this week, after only facing one shot on goal from the Knights No. 16 TULSA 2, UCF 0 Neil punched in his sixth goal of the season off a pass from Jeovahnni Sandez in the 41st minute, giving Tulsa a 1-0 advantage heading into the break. In the second half, TU continued to have solid possession, as Parada headed in a cross from Corey Albertson at the 62:20 mark. The Golden Hurricane held a 33-3 advantage in shots, including an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal. Neil had a team-leading seven shots, while Parada and Eric DeFreitas attempted five shots apiece. Tyrel Lacey logged all 90 minutes in goal and had one save. TU will return to action on Monday, Oct. 20th against cross-town rival Oral Roberts. KENTUCKY 2, UAB 1 (OT) Kentucky (7-4-2, 3-1 C-USA) allowed a goal in the 83rd minute, evening up the game at 1-1 and setting up Burns' heroics. Burns, a native of Aura, Colo., took a feed from Chad Hagerty and Tim Crone, nailing a diving kick for his first career goal, giving UK a dramatic win on the road in the 99th minute.
Stephen Beiro needed just 18 seconds in the game to net UK's first goal of the contest, setting the school record for the quickest goal in the history of the program, eclipsing the previous record of one minute and 12 seconds, set in a 1995 game vs. Western Michigan. Just seconds deep into the match, a UK player was fouled near the corner of the UAB goal, setting up a free kick. Hagerty took the free kick, delivering a line-drive that Beiro headed past a flurry of defenders into the net. The goal marked Beiro's first career and the assist was Hagerty's second of the year. Hagerty, a senior from Louisville, Ky., totaled two assists in the game, giving him a team-leading three on the season. Crone's assist was his second of the year. The overtime goal marked UK's 22nd all-time goal in extra time. The Wildcats out shot UAB 12-11, with the Blazers holding a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks. UK keeper Dan Williams allowed his first goal in a span of 196 consecutive minutes, dating back to an own goal at Tulsa. Williams posted four saves, while UAB's Wes Johnson finished with two saves. The senior from Dundalk, Ireland took a free kick from the top of the box in the second minute of the contest. Coburn bent the ball into the top corner with his right foot. The Gamecocks had two back-to-back shots in the ninth and tenth minutes respectively. Danny Cates took the first shot, which was saved my Memphis goalkeeper Michael Goodlett. Sam Arthur, who has ten goals on the season to lead the C-USA, took the second shot, which Goodlett grabbed for his second save of the game. Memphis had two shots in the first period, to USC's five shots. USC goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer had one while, compared to Goodlett's four first period saves. Memphis struck again in the 77th minute when Parker Duncan, a freshman from Johnson City, Tenn., scored his third goal in two games. Ryan Ruble, a sophomore from Lee's Summit, Mo., gathered the ball off of a throw in and crossed the ball into the goal box where Duncan used great timing to get to the ball and head it past Gamecock goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer. The assist was Ruble's third assist on the year. Goodlett earned the win in goal for the Tigers. The junior from Bolton, Miss., put up his second shutout of the season. He grabbed five saves in the contest. Goodlett's record now stands at 5-7 as the Tiger goalkeeper. Maurer, notched the loss for USC, moving his record to 6-5-2 on the season. Maurer had a .804 goals against average on the year coming into the game. The sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., has garnered four C-USA Defensive Players of the Week, tying a record for most Player of the Week honors in a season. More info is available on the Memphis website and the South Carolina website MARSHALL 1, No. 24 SMU 0 Senior Kolby LaCrone scored the only goal of the game just 1:13 into the contest when he knocked in a loose ball in front of the net. LaCrone now has two goals in the last two games. Senior Greg Walter helped to secure the Thundering Herd with six saves in goal. The Mustangs outshot Marshall 25 to 7 but it would be the play of Walter and the Herd defense that would lock up the team's second consecutive conference win.
