DIPSY DOES IT
Saint Louis senior forward DIPSY SELOLWANE became the seventh player in Conference USA history to score four goals in a match when he tallied four in a 5-1 win over South Florida on Oct. 20. According to the Saint Louis sports information office, it's the first four goal game since All-American Jack Kinealy scored four against Miami (Fla.) on Oct. 22, 1966, nearly 35 years ago to the day Dipsy becomes the 11th player in SLU history to score four in a match He extended his goal-scoring streak to 10 games, the best since Steve Sullivan scored in 11 consecutive matches in 1979.

Four Conference USA schools were regionally ranked in the Oct. 22 NSCAA regional polls. Here's a look at the polls in C-USA's regions:

THE WEEK AHEAD
First place in Conference USA is on the line when No. 3 Saint Louis visits No. 10 UAB on Wednesday. The Billikens and Blazers have split their last four matches, dating back to 1999.

In addition to the annual regular season match, Saint Louis and UAB have also met in each of the last two C-USA Tournament Finals. The Billikens took the 2000 title, 2-1, and UAB prevailed, 4-0 in 1999. SLU brings the nation's sixth-best offense (3.11 points per game) to Birmingham to face the nation's fourth-best defense (0.53 GAA).

AROUND C-USA...

CHARLOTTE
Charlotte handed Marquette a 1-0 setback on Oct. 20. JUAN MUNOZ-AIREY's fifth goal of the season proved to be the game-winner, as LUCAS MACKANOS recorded his second shutout of the year with eight saves. Munoz-Airey's goal was his first since Sept. 7. This marks the second straight year that the 49ers have shutout the Golden Eagles. Charlotte heads to Durham this weekend for the Big Four Classic. The 49ers face N.C. State on Friday and Duke on Sunday.

CINCINNATI
Cincinnati head coach HYLTON DAYES recorded the 100th win of his head coaching career as the Bearcats shut out Memphis, 1-0. Cincinnati travels to Louisville on Wednesday before returning home against No. 10 UAB on Sunday. Four of UC's last five regular season matches are on the road.

DE PAUL
No. 10 UAB defeated DePaul, 4-0 in Chicago on Oct. 20. The Blazers snapped the Blue Demons' two-match winning streak. DePaul visits South Florida on Friday and steps out of league play against Stetson on Sunday.

EAST CAROLINA
ECU suffered a pair of league losses at Louisville (1-0 on Oct. 18) and to visiting TCU (4-2 on Oct. 20). JOSH FOLTZ had his fourth goal of the season in the TCU match, while freshman TERRON AMOS had his first career goal. R.J. MARVINNEY proved why he is sixth in the nation in saves with 10 saves against TCU. The Pirates visit No. 2 Virginia on Wednesday.

LOUISVILLE
Louisville turned back East Carolina, 1-0, on Oct. 18. This is the Cardinals' second straight win. JEREMY MORALES had two saves for his third shutout of the season, while GEORGE ZABANEH, who has been sidelined by two concussions this season, scored the game-winning goal. This was his second goal of the season. The Cardinals host Cincinnati on Wednesday.

MARQUETTE
Charlotte defeated Marquette, 1-0 on Oct. 20. Both teams had several scoring opportunities as the 49ers outshot the Golden Eagles, 14-12. ADAM UBERT had eight saves in goal for MU, which is back in action on Friday at TCU.

MEMPHIS
Cincinnati held off Memphis, 1-0 on Oct. 20. Defense was the name of the match, as each team attempted just five shots on goal. The loss snapped the Tigers' three-match series winning streak against the Bearcats, dating back to 1999. Memphis hosts South Florida on Sunday.

SAINT LOUIS
No. 3 Saint Louis extended its winning streak to 10 matches with a 5-1 victory over visiting South Florida on Oct. 20. DIPSY SELOLWANE tallied four goals against the Bulls, marking the seventh time in league history that a player had scored four goals in a match. SLU's 10-match unbeaten streak is its best start since the 1971 Billikens opened with 17 straight wins en route to a national runners-up finish. SLU visits No. 10 UAB on Wednesday.

SOUTH FLORIDA
No. 3 Saint Louis handed South Florida a 5-1 loss on Oct. 20. JEFF THWAITES scored the Bulls' goal on an assist from BRANDON STREICHER. USF hosts DePaul on Friday and travels to Memphis on Sunday. The Bulls are looking to avenge a 3-2 overtime loss to the Tigers last season, USF's only loss to Memphis in 11 meetings.

TCU
TCU handed East Carolina a 4-2 defeat on Oct. 20 in Greenville, N.C. The Horned Frogs' BOBBY MONTES had two goals, while NICK BROWNE, who doubles as a placekicker for the TCU football team, added an assist. The Horned Frogs host Marquette on Friday and Drury on Sunday.

UAB
No. 10 UAB improved to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in Conference USA with a 4-0 victory at DePaul on Oct. 20. FLAVIO MONTEIRO had two goals and an assist for the Blazers. Monteiro is eighth on UAB's career goals (20) and points (51) lists. CLINT BAUMSTARK added four saves for his seventh shutout of the season. He is now one shutout away from tying the UAB single-season record, held by David Clemente (1999). Monteiro has four goals in his last three matches. UAB hosts No. 3 Saint Louis on Wednesday.

TOURNAMENT TIME
The 2001 Conference USA Tournament will take place Nov. 15-18 at USF Soccer Stadium in Tampa. The top six finishers in the league advance to the tournament, with the top two finishers earning first round byes. The match times are 5:30 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16 and 1 p.m. on Nov. 18. The championship will be televised by the Conference USA Television Network. Check your local listings for details.
