    Louisville's Marco Terminesi and UAB's Tony McManus were named the Conference USA Men's Soccer Players of the Week. Terminesi earned the offesive honors, while McManus garnered the defensive award. With two weeks left in the regular season, C-USA teams continue to battle for the regular-season championship as well as the all important seeding in the conference tournament.     PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
    Co-Offensive
    Marco Terminesi, Fr., Forward
    Louisville
    Terminesi finished the week with two assists and a goal in Louisville's 1-0 win over Marquette and its 2-2 tie with USF. Against the Golden Eagles last Wednesday, he provided the assist on Ian Quatocchi's game-winning goal late in the contest. Terminesi followed that performance with a goal in the 41st minute, scoring on a header off a deflection by Felipe Tolomelli. Two minutes later, Terminesi added an assist on a Ryan Edwards goal.

    Defensive
    Tony McManus, Sr., Defender
    UAB
    McManus played a integral part in the Blazer defense that led UAB to victories over Centenary and DePaul. In the 6-1 win over the Gents, he helped thwart several scoring opportunities and limited the opposition to 13 shots on goal. On Saturday, McManus helped the Blazers to their seventh shutout of the season and second consecutive shutout in C-USA play with a 2-0 road victory over the Blue Demons.

    NEWS AND NOTES

    On The Tube – C-USA soccer fans that subscribe to a satellite television service can catch the action of Friday’s No. 5 Saint Louis at No. 23 Indiana match up on College Sports Television. The contest will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on Monday, Oct. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (ET).

    In Goal – UAB freshman goalkeeper JEREMY DRAKE played well over the last four matches for the Blazers. During that stretch, his record is 2-0-2 while sporting a 0.45 goals against average.

    Lee’s Hat Trick, Part 2 – Marquette midfielder CHRIS LEE recorded his second hat trick of the season and his second in the last two weeks, scoring three goals in the Golden Eagles’ 4-1 victory at UW-Green Bay on Saturday. He also notched three goals in MU’s 5-0 win over East Carolina on Oct. 18.

    Climbing The Charts – Louisville forward SIMON BIRD is steadily moving up the Cardinal career goals chart. With his fifth game-winning goal of the season in Louisville’s 2-1 overtime victory over Cincinnati last Wednesday, Bird tied with former Cardinals’ standout George Zabaneh for third in all-time goals with 27 tallies. He also tied him for 10th best in C-USA history. Bird also moved up to fourth on Louisville’s all-time career points list with 58. He currently leads C-USA in points with 23 (10 goals, 3 assists) and game-winning goals with five.

    Out of League – Conference USA teams have posted a 39-31-10 (.550) mark against non-conference opponents.

    In The Rankings – C-USA squads are 6-4-3 (.577) in matches this season against ranked non-conference opposition. Saint Louis owns four of the six wins, with victories over then-No. 14 Virginia (3-2 OT), No. 16 Clemson (2-0), No. 14 Furman (1-0) and No. 15 Florida International (1-0). USF has one win, defeating the Paladins, 2-1, and Memphis has a 3-2 upset of No. 15 UW-Milwaukee. UAB posted two of the three ties against then-No. 3 Notre Dame (0-0), then-No. 7 Indiana (0-0) and Cincinnati owns the other with a 1-1 tie against then-No. 15 Cal. State-Northridge.

    C-USA HONOR ROLL

    TIM BROWN - CINCINNATI
    Brown led the Bearcats with a goal and two assists in a 4-2 victory over East Carolina on Sunday. He is fourth on the team with four goals and two assists.

    SAM MILLER – CINCINNATI
    Miller moved to right back after playing 13 games in the midfield this season. His dynamic play helped UC hold East Carolina scoreless for 85 minutes. As a freshman, Miller has seen action in all 14 matches with 10 starting assignments.

    MATT NEELY- LOUISVILLE
    Neely replaced senior ADRIAN CANN in the backfield last week. He helped the Cards to a 1-0 shutout of Marquette on Wednesday. Then Neely anchored the Cardinal defense against USF. The Cardinals played to a 2-2 tie against the Bulls.

    CHRIS LEE - MARQUETTE
    Lee scored three goals and had an assist against UW-Green Bay, having a hand in all four goals scored in Marquette’s 4-1 win. Lee's hat trick was the second of the season for him. He leads team and Conference USA with 13 goals.

    DANIEL DOBSON - MEMPHIS
    Dobson scored his second goal of the season, leading Memphis to its third straight win, a 2-1 decision over Alabama A&M.

    GRAHAM GIBBS - MEMPHIS
    Gibbs played a key role in organizing the Tigers back four, helping keep Alabama A&M scoreless until he was forced to leave the game with an injury.

    Conference USA will name an Offensive and Defensive Player of the week each week during the 2003 season. Players of the Week are selected by the conference office.

    TIEBREAKER POLICY
    The following is the tie breaking criteria to determine seeding for the Conference USA Tournament:

    1. Head-to-head competition between the tied teams.
    2. Record versus other conference opponents in descending rank order.
    3. The number of goals allowed by each team in conference play. The team allowing the fewest number of goals against shall be the higher seed.
    4. Goals scored versus goals scored against by each team in conference competition. The team with higher ratio shall be the team with the higher seed.
    5. Coin toss by the Commissioner.

    In a three-way tie, once broken, go back to No. 1.

    C-USA ON TV
    The championship match of the 2003 Conference USA Men’s Soccer Tournament will be televised by affiliates of the Conference USA Television Network. The veteran announce team of DON RUSSELL (play-by-play) and BILL McDERMOTT (color analyst) will call all of the action. More details will be released as the championship approaches.

    The top-six finishers in the regular season earn a spot in the Conference USA Tournament, November 13-16 in Memphis.
