UAB Men's Soccer Goes Into Overtime Again for 3-2 Win Over Alabama A&M HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Juan Carlos Deras scored his second penalty kick goal of the game in the 107th minute to lift UAB to a 3-2 double-overtime win over Alabama A&M and extend the Blazers unbeaten streak to nine games at the A&M soccer field in Huntsville.

The number-10 ranked Blazers are now 12-3-2 overall with one match remaining in the regular season. They play at Louisville, Sunday afternoon. This was the fifth straight road match which has gone into overtime for UAB. The Blazers have won all five. UAB has played eight overtime matches this season, and are 5-1-2 in extra period games.

The penalty kick was set up when Lane Knight drove through the A&M defense and was fouled inside the penalty area. Deras drilled the kick into the right side of the goal.

Deras scored the game-tying goal at the 71:58 mark when an A&M player was called for a hand-ball violation inside the goal area.

UAB took the early lead when Knight scored from in front of the goal on an assist by Nelson Mata at the 39:22 mark.

The lead did not last long as the Bulldogs' Allan Kazooka scored just 24 seconds later. A&M took a 2-1 lead into the half when Musa Manneh scored at the 42:29 mark, less than three minutes after Kazooka's goal.

UAB had its chances to put the game away in the first overtime. The Blazers attempted four shots in the first extra period. Three shots hit the crossbar and one bounced off a UAB player. The Bulldogs did not get off a shot attempt in either extra period.

Knight and Deras both have scored four goals on the season for the Blazers.

UAB still has a chance at the Conference-USA title with a win at Louisville, Sunday. Should Saint Louis lose at South Florida, Friday night, the Blazers would win the league regular season title and host the C-USA Championships. The tournament begins next Thursday at the sight of the regular season winner.

Reti Goal In Final Minute Gives Men's Soccer 4-3 Overtime Win
Golden Eagles End Season with 4-3 Win Over DePaul

CHICAGO -- Junior Sean Reti (Brookfield, Wis.) scored with just 34 second left in the second overtime to give Marquette a 4-3 win at DePaul. Marquette finishes the season at 10-7-2 and 2-6 in Conference USA play. DePaul falls to 1-16 and 0-8 in C-USA action.

Marquette opened up a two goal lead in the first 36 minutes of action. Senior Andy Hunter (Swaffham, England) scored his first goal of the season just eight minutes in the contest. Hunter took a feed from Reti and headed the ball in for the lead. Senior Mike Adrian (St. Louis, Mo.) scored his second of the season in the 35th minute for the two goal lead.

DePaul cut the lead in half by halftime and tied the contest 10 minutes into the second half. Goals by Chris Greer and Travis Brown evened the score.

Sophomore Mike Robards (Leawood, Kan.) broke the tie 36 seconds after the Brown goal as Adrian recorded an assist on the Robards tally.

Greer evened the contest again when he scored his second goal of the game with 4:23 left in regulation.

Reti's goal in the 120th minute was his third on the year.

With the win, Marquette head coach Steve Adlard moves into first place in all-time wins for a Marquette mens soccer coach, surpassing Jerry Panek with his 98th career win. Adlard is 98-75-16 in nine years at Marquette and 151-131-25 in 14 career seasons.

Men's Soccer Rallies to 2-2 Tie with Louisville

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team erased a two-goal deficit in the second half to help move closer to a Conference USA Tournament berth with a 2-2 tie against Louisville on Wednesday evening at Meyers Field. Senior Myron Vaughn (Indianapolis, Ind/Pike) tallied his 10th goal of the season to tie the match in the 85th minute of play for the Bearcats (6-8-3, 3-2-3).

The Cardinals(11-7-4, 3-3-1) jumped on the board first 1:01 into the match when Shawn Faria rebounded a save by UC freshman goalkeeper Sacha Nathu (Wellington, New Zealand/Kings College) and blasted a shot into the net for a quick 1-0 lead. Louisville continued to stay on the offensive until it scored again in the 18th minute when a UC clear ended up at the feet of Justin Prather, whose shot trickled past Nathu to give UofL a 2-0 lead.

The turning point of the match came early in the second half when Louisville's Adam Ottenbrajt was issued a red card, forcing Louisville to play a man down. Cincinnati quickly cashed in on the opportunity, scoring in the 69th minute when freshman John Haddad (Deer Park, Texas/Deer Park) scored off a corner kick from classmate Tim Brown (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington College) to cut the deficit to one.

The two teams returned to even strength when UC senior Issiah Davis (Spring, Texas/Klein) was issued a second yellow card in the 76th minute, forcing both teams to play a man short. Cincinnati continued to dominate in the second half even after losing Davis, outshooting Louisville 7-2 in the second half. The barrage finally paid off when Vaughn earned a penalty kick when he was dragged down in the box and his penalty kick sailed beyond the outstretched arms of Cardinal goalkeeper Jeremy Morales.

The Bearcats owned most of the possession in the extra periods, holding UofL without a shot while putting two opportunities on goal.

"I think if you had asked me a half hour into the match if I'd settle for a2-2 draw, the answer would be absolutely," said head coach Jeff Cook. "We've had a tough week, but we answered the challenge in the second half. We had opportunities to win this match, but the effort was there."

Cincinnati outshot Louisville 13-7 for the match and 9-2 in the second half and overtime. Nathu made three saves in goal for UC, while Morales stopped four Bearcat shots.

The Bearcats will now wait for the results of two weekend matches to find out if they have earned a spot in the Conference USA Tournament. UC will advance if either South Florida loses or draws at home to current C-USA leader Saint Louis or if UAB defeats or ties Louisville.

Cincinnati returns wraps up the regular season on Saturday at Meyers Field when it meets Wisconsin at 5 p.m. It will serve as the final home match for UC's eight seniors.
