Charlotte Falls to #14 Clemson 4-0
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 5) - The Charlotte men's soccer team lost their final regular
season match 4-0 to #14 Clemson.
Charlotte falls to 8-8-2 on the season. While Clemson improved to
13-3-1 on the season.
Clemson scored their first goal when Nathan Rawlins connected on a
scoring shot in front of the Charlotte goal off assists from Fabio Tambosi
and Pablo Webster at the 24:04 mark of the match.
Clemson increased their lead to 2-0 when Oguchi Onyewu scored an
unassisted goal at the 46:08 mark of the match.
Clemson scored their third goal when Steven Rhyne connected on a
goal off an assist from Pablo Webster at the 49:14 mark.
Clemson made the final score 4-0 when Ian Fuller scored an
unassisted goal when he corralled a Charlotte defender deflections at the
60:07 mark.
Charlotte now travels to Saint Louis for the Conference USA
Tournament which begins Thursday, November 9. Charlotte enters the
tournament as the third seed.
No. 10 UAB Tops Louisville 3-2 In Overtime
LOUISVILLE, Ky (Nov. 5) - Lane Knight scored his second goal of the game off an
assist by Rumbani Munthali in the 94th minute to lift 10th-ranked UAB
(13-3-2, 5-1-2 in Conference USA) past Louisville (11-8-1, 3-4-1 in C-USA)
3-2 and extend the Blazers unbeaten streak to 10 games.
UAB jumped on the board early with Knight scoring off an assist by Mike
Garcia in the third minute. The Blazers led 1-0 at the half.
Louisville tied the score on a goal by Shawn Faria off an assist from
Stuart Langrish at the 71:53 mark. In the next minute the Cards' Courtenay
Commander scored the go ahead goal off an assist from Mason Barber. The
Blazers knotted the score at the 79:29 mark off an unassisted goal from
Jose Rayo straight up the middle. The match was tied at the end of
regulation forcing an overtime.
This was the sixth straight road match to go into overtime for UAB. The
Blazers have won all six. UAB has played nine overtime matches this season
and are 6-1-2 in extra period games.
The Blazers next travel to St. Louis, Mo. for the Conference USA Tournament
Nov. 9-12.
