The championship match-up of the C-USA Men's Soccer Championship is set. Second-seeded South Carolina will face eighth-seeded Tulsa on Sunday for C-USA Tournament title and automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. South Carolina punched its ticket to Sunday's championship game with a 2-1 win over defending tournament champion Memphis. Ryan Deter's goal at 61:08 proved to be the game-winner for the Gamecocks. In the second semifinal, Tulsa's Kyle Brown has scored a pair of second half goals as the Golden Hurricane shut out Marshall, 3-0.

The first semifinal of the 2005 C-USA Men's Soccer Championship is complete and South Carolina has punched its ticket to Sunday's championship game. Ryan Deter's goal at 61:08 proved to be the game-winner for the Gamecocks over defending tournament champion Memphis. The Tigers and Gamecocks had scored a pair of goals just 11 seconds apart in the opening minutes of the match. Memphis got on the board first at 5:54 when freshman Tripp Harkins scored his second goal of the tournament. Just 11 seconds later, USC tied it up by running the length of the field. Senior Josh Alcala served it up to Ayo Akinsete, who took the shot from the left side and netted the goal. The two teams tied, 2-2, during the regular season. South Carolina is making its first attempt at the C-USA title in its inaugural year in the conference as an associate member. No. 5 Marshall and No. 8 Tulsa take to the pitch at approximately 7:30 p.m. Both teams posted upsets on Wednesday as the Thundering Herd defeated No. 4 Florida International, 2-0, and Tulsa knocked off top-seed SMU on penalty kicks (5-4) after playing to a 2-2 knot. Tulsa's Kyle Brown scored a pair of second-half goals and junior Jonathan Lange added the third as the Golden Hurricane defeated Marshall, 3-0, to advance to the finals of the 2005 C-USA Men's Soccer Tournament. Eighth-seeded Tulsa (7-6-7) will face No. 2 South Carolina (11-6-2) in the championship match at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday. Brown earned his first goal when senior midfielder Lawson Vaughn got the deflection off the Marshall keeper and served it up for a hard shot into the net. Brown then earned his conference-best 13th goal of the season less than six minutes later off an assist from Lange. The junior forward then followed up with his own goal in the 80th minute for the 3-0 final. Marshall ends its season with an 8-9-2 overall record. The Herd was an impressive 6-2-1 in its final nine outings.
The championship game on sunday will begin at 1:00 p.m. CDT. CSTV will air the game live.
