Junior forward Mike Sambursky scored in the 41st minute for the Gamecocks lone goal and game-winner. Senior Greg Reece played a ball to Sambursky. When TU keeper Dominic Cervi came off his line to gather ball, Sambursky beat him and finished the play off with a shot into the center of the net from 15 yards out. South Carolina improves to 12-6-2 and receives the C-USA automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA Tournament. South Carolina came out firing in the opening minutes of the second half and kept the Tulsa defense on its heels. USC out-shot TU, 3-1, and attempted one corner kick, while the Gamecocks defense surrendered a high shot in the first two minutes. TU only managed five shots on goal for the game and was held to just two in the second half against a stingy South Carolina defense. Although the Hurricane out-shot USC, 18-13, for the match.
