Memphis Takes On Ohio State in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    The nationally ranked No. 10 University of Memphis men's soccer team will play its first NCAA Tournament game since 1993 in the first round at 6 p.m. (CST) on Friday at No. 30 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. It is the second appearance in the program's history for the U of M. The Tigers lost to Indiana in the first round of their previous appearance, 6-0, in 1993.

    This will be the first meeting between Memphis (16-3-1) and Ohio State (10-6-2). The Buckeyes received an at-large bid after tying with Indiana for the Big Ten regular season title. OSU was knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament in the opening round by Michigan. Ohio State is making its third NCAA appearance, all of them coming in the last five years.

    If the Tigers win, they will travel to play fifth seeded Notre Dame on Tuesday in South Bend, Indiana. The Fighting Irish received one of the 16 first round byes in the tournament.
