DePaul Names Blazer Head Men's Soccer Coach

CHICAGO -- DePaul University athletic director Bill Bradshaw has announced that interim coach Craig Blazer has been named head coach for the DePaul men's soccer program.

"After reviewing the season, we feel that Craig can elevate the men's soccer program into the upper echelon on Conference USA," said Bradshaw. "The results of his hard work this season are already paying dividends for next year."

After being named interim coach prior to the 2001 season, Blazer's squad posted a 3-13-2 overall record and 2-6-2 mark in Conference USA. The Blue Demons were in the hunt for the Conference USA Tournament as late as the final weekend of the season before losing their last two league matches. Indvidually, Luke Rojo was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team.

Blazer came to DePaul from the United States Soccer Federation where he was the U.S. Team Manager at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Since 1993, he has been the U.S. National Team Coordinator managing logistics while traveling with the team throughout the world. He played at Xavier University from 1987-91 and earned his USSF "A" Coaching License in 2000. DePaul marks Blazer's first head coaching experience.
