DALLAS (SMU) - The No. 5 SMU men's soccer team is headed to Omaha, Neb., to face No. 7 Creighton in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28. The Mustangs reached the by virtue of their 1-0 win over Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday night at Westcott Field. Junior midfielder Bruno Guarda, a preseason Hermann Trophy nominee and the reigning two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 76th minute, while senior goalkeeper Steve Sandbo picked up his sixth shutout of the season.

The Mustangs and Bluejays, who used to compete every year as members of the Missouri Valley Conference, have met 22 times before, with the Ponies holding a 16-5-1 all-time advantage. No team in the nation has more victories over Creighton than SMU.

The winner will play the winner of the game between Northwestern and Illinois-Chicago.
