For the second consecutive week, Tulsa senior ASHLEY WATLING has earned the Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor, while junior EMMA LEVY of Tulane takes the women's weekly award.
The University of Tulsa has swept this week's Men's and Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week honors. Senior ASHLEY WATLING earns his fourth career weekly accolade after going 3-0 at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The senior won his singles match at the No. 2 position in straight sets against Jesus Bandres of ETSU. He was also in a tight, three-set battle with No. 13 Alex Musialek of Kentucky before the match was halted. ANASTASIA EROFEEVA earns her first weekly award after posting the biggest win of her career at the ITA Kickoff when she upset No. 40-ranked Joelle Kissell of N.C. State. The win was her third-career victory over a ranked opponent and the first against a player inside the top 100
UCF junior Jorge Blasco and Tulsa sophomore Samantha Vickers have been named Conference USA Tennis Players of the Week. Blasco, the Knights' No. 1 singles player, topped nationally ranked Danny Kreyman of No. 41 Wake Forest in the spring season opener. Vickers posted four singles wins at the No. 2 position and swept three doubles matches during the Bulldog Invitational.
