Men's Tennis Hosts Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team had four athletes in action on Friday at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the TU campus. Today featured the round of 16 singles and rounds 32 and 16 in doubles. Action will begin tomorrow at 10:00 am and will include both the quarterfinals and semifinals of singles and doubles. Featured teams from the Central Region are: Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, ORU, Arkansas, Creighton, Drake, Nebraska, Wichita State, St. Louis, Illinois State, Arkansas-Little Rock and Southern Illinois. Senior Ricardo Soriano reached the quarterfinals by defeating Wichita State's Albert Ballesta, 6-2, 6-1. In the singles action, junior Ross Cunningham fell to Oklahoma State's Ivan Puchkarov, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, while seniors Will Gray and Andy Connelly lost to UALR teammates, Edson Abrao and Marko Ballok, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 7-6. In TU's lone doubles match, the pair of Gray/Soriano fell to Adrian Chermaci/Tiago Dos Santo of Wichita State, 9-7. TU Recap Singles (Round of 16)
