IRVING, Texas - Christoph Müller of Rice was selected Conference USA Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon and the Owls also climbed 18 spots to No. 23 in the latest ITA rankings. Rice is now the highest ranked team in C-USA ahead of Tulsa (25) and SMU (46).
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (2/5)
CHRISTOPH MÜLLER - Rice

Müller was an integral part in No. 41 Rice's back-to-back 4-3 road victories at No. 20 North Carolina State and No. 10 North Carolina over the weekend. Müller teamed with fellow German Ralph Knupfer to upend UNC's top pair of Taylor Fogleman and Chris Kearney to give the Owls the doubles point against UNC. Fogleman and Kearney entered the match as the nation's third-ranked doubles team. Müller also won a pair of three-set decisions at the No. 2 singles position. After losing the first set, Müller fired back by winning the next two sets 6-3, 6-2 over NC State's Nick Cavaday. He broke a 2-2 tie and swung the momentum back to the Owls with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 triumph over UNC's Stefan Hardy. The weekly honor is the second of Müller's career, his first in 2008.

Conference USA will name a male and female tennis Athlete of the Week throughout the regular season. The weekly accolades are selected by the media relations department and announced every Tuesday throughout the season.

Fahgen was undefeated in singles play last weekend and helped No. 46 SMU to a perfect 4-0 weekend. He played in only two of the Mustangs' matches, but was unbeaten at the top singles position. He went 1-1 in doubles.
